We’ve been doing this whole food blog thing for over a year now, and one restaurant that always comes highly recommended to us is El Azteca. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve gotten a message on Instagram from someone telling us we must give them a try. Why it’s taken us this long to do so is still beyond me, but I’m so glad we finally gave it a shot.
Located in a shopping center behind the intersection of Clinton and Governors, it’s easy to overlook this (slightly) hidden gem. If you’re familiar with Bandito Burrito, it’s right around the corner from there.
But first, chips and salsa! Isn’t that everyone’s favorite part? I know it’s mine, and boy does this salsa pack a punch in the best way possible. Take your time looking over the menu; it’s huge! You’re sure to find classic favorites as well as some items that may be new to you.
Authentic is the word that sticks out when it comes to El Azteca. You want tacos? You’ll get them on corn tortillas with onions, cilantro, and lime. None of that cheese, lettuce, and tomato nonsense here. Plus, they’re amazing. In my opinion they rival the ever-so-popular El Cazador (Taco Bus) down the street, and that’s saying a lot.
Looking for a meatless option? The vegetarian fajitas are out of this world! With an array of veggies like peppers, onions, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and mushrooms, these are anything but ordinary. You also get tortillas, rice, beans, and guacamole which makes this meal more than enough for two people to share, but we each ordered our own.
Now we want to hear from you! Have you been to El Azteca?
I must admit, we’ve been there three times in the past week or so. 😉
El Azteca is located at 2723 Clinton Ave W, Huntsville, AL 35805.
As always, be sure to join us on Instagram so you don’t miss out on our next great foodie-find 🙂
