Recently we had the opportunity to take over the Downtown Huntsville Inc. Instagram account for a day. Instagram is our main social media focus and where Eat Huntsville started so naturally this was a perfect gig for us! We enjoy #eatingfortheinsta and also mixing in some lifestyle content. This is exactly what we did all day Saturday March 4th while creating content for the DHI Instagram. Here’s a recap of the day’s activities and what we wanted to share with all those that followed along.
Having an option like Mason Dixon nearby is a real blessing when you’re in need of a fresh, healthy breakfast. We both went with the egg sandwich featuring bacon, sunny side up egg, and goat cheese on a homemade biscuit. Add a cappuccino and you have an outstanding breakfast experience. Mason Dixon is Alabama’s first gluten-free bakery, and whether you are seeking GF food options or not you are sure to be impressed by the food here. We love the focus on simple, fresh, and healthy options served up in a cute, cozy setting. Next, we moved on to some urban exploring around the city on this beautiful day.
Below the Radar seemed like a good plan for lunch considering their diverse, specialty menu that’s available in addition to the craft brews. A large craft beer menu is available, which features their own offerings and many from other breweries as well. We had to go with Below the Radar, and the Harvest Amber and Cryptic Double IPA were our choices. Based on our lunch shown below, it’s obvious they take their kitchen seriously and it’s not only about the beer. Rainbow trout with cheese grits, fried green tomato, and arugula was beautiful and delicious. And as taco aficionados, mixing things up with pork belly tacos was a tasty and unique meal.
After lunch there was still plenty of the spring-like Saturday left to walk around downtown Huntsville and take in the surroundings.
Being enthusiasts of the third wave coffee movement, we couldn’t have been more excited last fall when we learned Honest Roasters from Franklin, TN would be opening a location in downtown Huntsville. Keeping up with their progress closely, we are eagerly awaiting their anticipated May grand opening. At the time of publishing this, Honest Roasters has just launched their pop-up shop inside U.G. White Mercantile. This is a great way to tide us over until the shop officially opens its doors.
Ever since trying Big Oh’s for the first time, we’ve been hooked on this delicious Korean food. Large portions of classic dishes keep us coming back. Pictured below is one of our favorites: bulgogi with two yaki mandu and kimchi. Located in the heart of downtown Huntsville across from the courthouse, this should be on your list of restaurants to check out if you haven’t already.
We had SO much fun taking over the DHI Instagram for the day and look forward to collaborating with others in the future!
