Last weekend we visited Walker’s Market, located in the historic Five Points area of Huntsville. Owner Kimberly Walker proudly carries products from the south that cannot typically be found in your local grocery store. Situated in a charming craftsman home, this local gem stocks delicious eats and fits the area perfectly.
Walker’s Market carries an array of cookies, tea, chocolates, pasta, soups, and other items that are a great addition to any pantry. Something that caught my attention was the Runamok Maple Syrup in a container reminiscent of a classic whiskey bottle. We sampled both the barrel aged and lime flavors and were blown away that maple syrup could have such a distinct, robust flavor other than maple. We will be back to pick up some soon!
In addition to the great selection of products that are guaranteed to make you look like a gourmet chef, the shop also has meals to-go that have been prepared by local caterers. We tried the cheese penne bake and buttermilk biscuits, which were both to die for! There’s just something so special and rewarding about being able to have a busy Sunday afternoon and still come home and have a home cooked meal that you didn’t have to prepare! I’m already eyeing the chicken Tetrazzini which I’ve seen posted on their Instagram, but it appears to sell out quickly so you’ve gotta move fast!
We took home a bag full of goodies (most of which are long gone by now!). The jalapeno cheddar popcorn was the first to go. The pork rinds made for an excellent late night snack as well. Grilling weather is just around the corner, and there’s no doubt the barbecue sauce will complement many of our meals.
