We are so excited to finally make Eat Huntsville, the blog, happen! When we started the Instagram page two months ago, we thought it would just be a fun way to take a quick picture of our food, and share it with all of you. Over time, we have learned there are just some instances where one tiny picture and a short description, cannot do certain food and restaurants justice. Why yes, we really can take ten different pictures of the same plate of chicken and rice.
I know many people may not consider Huntsville to be a “foodie” city, but we’re here to prove them wrong. You also don’t need to spend an arm and a leg on a meal to have a great food experience. We spent under $10 on dinner (TOTAL) last night at Bandito Burrito, and let me tell you, it was SO tasty and satisfying. As much as we love quick meals and a great deal, we equally love a nice Friday or Saturday date night restaurant like Connor’s, Cotton Row, or Pane E Vino. What can I say, I’m from Chicago. I love my pizza.
As you will see in the months to come, coffee is a huge part of our daily life. I’m serious you guys. We drove two hours for the grand opening of Turbo Coffee in Florence, AL and to Birmingham, AL to try Feast and Forest, both of which have made it on our list of favorite coffee shops. Around the Huntsville area, we frequent Hindsight Coffee, and are thrilled about the new Alchemy Lounge located behind Suzy’s Pops inside of Lowe Mill, which will be holding their grand opening celebration on October 1st.
In addition to our love for local dining, I love to cook. We usually eat dinner at home 5-6 nights a week, which allows for weekend indulgences. Don’t be surprised if you see any recipes or at home food adventures here on the blog, since cooking is such a huge passion of mine. I pretty much grew up in the kitchen. No really, I did everything in the kitchen. Talking on the phone, playing Barbies, dancing, singing, standing on the counters to sneak food out of the cabinets when I was 4, and getting caught. There’s pictures of it. All. Of. It.
If you’re going to “eat” Huntsville, you should probably “hike” Huntsville too, am I right? Luckily we love to hike. We meaning, mostly Allen, although I can honestly say I’ve grown to enjoy it more than I thought I would. I lived in Chicago and Tampa most of my life, so needless to say there weren’t too many mountains nearby. Does sledding down hills in the winter count? Because I’ve done a ton of that. We’re really looking forward to the cooler weather so we can pack a lunch, and hike up to Monte Sano for a picnic. 65 degrees, where are you?
We hope you have enjoyed following our love for food and photography on our Instagram page, and hope you will continue to do so here. In the weeks and months to come you can be on the lookout for our first impressions of Alchemy Lounge, and a special look into Local Taco, which is coming soon to The Shops at Merchants Walk. We are also excited to bring you a sneak peek into BRAVO! Cucina Italiana, which has launched a brand new “foodie-friendly” menu, and we cannot wait to share all the delicious details with you.
Thank you so much for all your support, kind words, messages, emails, and the people who have spotted us and stopped to say “hello”, you are the best! Also, don’t forget to tag us in your food pictures on Instagram 🙂
